Biography

Dr. Appleton grew up in Somerset County. She completed her doctoral training at St. Elizabeth University. Her doctoral dissertation examined the effectiveness of a manualized positive psychology approach on adults aged 65 years or older as a means to identify ways to increase subjective quality of life along with accessibility of quality care for older adults. During both her Masters and Doctoral training, she interned with St. Clare’s Behavioral Health Enhanced Outpatient Program along with Summit Medical Group’s behavioral health center where she provided evidence-based outpatient individual and group therapy to adults. Since 2019 she has been appointed as a Volunteer Education Ambassador with the National Resource Center on LGBTQ+ aging. In addition, since 2019 she has maintained her private group practice in Branchburg, NJ, which is grounded in social justice and emphasizes accessible and affordable quality care.
