Dr. Hetal Desai DNP, RN, FNP an assistant professor in the Department of Graduate Nursing at Felician University and an actively practicing board-certified family nurse practitioner. She received her Doctor in Nursing Practice degree from William Paterson University (2015) and her Master of Science in Nursing degree from Rutgers University (2005).
Dr. Desai has experience teaching in both urban and non-urban universities in the accelerated/BSN program, Master’s, and Doctoral Nursing Program in both adjunct and full-time faculty roles. From 2023-2024, she co-developed a grant-funded, interdisciplinary Religion & Health course with the Religion Department at Felician University. At Felician, she currently serves as a Faculty Senator as well as a member of the Standing Faculty Development Committee, Employee Appreciation Committee and liaison for the Online Teaching and Learning Committee. She also serves as a faculty counselor for the Graduate Nursing Student Academy.
Dr. Desai works in the clinical setting managing patients ranging from ages 2 to 90. She has managed patients in varied clinical settings such as primary care practice, urgent care, Fast-Track- Emergency Medicine, Women’s Health/OBGYN Practice and Subacute nursing Facilities & Rehabs. She is a member of the Nursing Council at Morristown Medical Center.
Dr. Desai has presented multiple podium presentations and publications on Effectiveness of Transgender Care Content in a Nurse Practitioner Program & Political advocacy. She is a member of the American Academy of Nurse Practitioner (AANP), New Jersey State Nurses Association (NJSNA), Alpha Beta Chi & Sigma Theta Tau (Chapters of International Honor Society), National Organization of Nurse Practitioner Faculties (NONPF), Emergency Nurses Association (ENA) and Forum of Nurses in Advanced Practice (FNAP). She lives with her husband, two beautiful girls, and her dog Max.
